Spares by Michael Marshall Smith
Review by: Rain
Dark and chilling, this is the story of Jack Randall, veteran of a bizarre and savage war, running from his past.
For the past five years he has been working on a Spares Farm, guarding those who have been prisoners from birth.
Now he's on the run, with six (Well, five and a half) of the Farm's inmates, and the people who own them will do anything to get them back. To top that, Jack's past comes haunting him, in the shape of a killer determined to erase Jack once and for all.
This is an excellent Sci-Fi/Punk/Horror book. It cannot be simply fitted into a genre. Powerful and unsettling.
