This exquisite novel by Edith Wharton is now being made into a movie starring Gillian Anderson as the beautiful heroine, Lily Bart. I am surprised that it hasn't been made into a movie before, since it has so many great elements: unrequited love, blackmail, gambling and passion, all set against a sparkling background of wealth and privilege from New York to Europe. Follow Lily's journey from the heights to the depths, and I dare you not to be moved.
