It's the newest in the Dr. Kay Scarpetta series. Cornwell always does a good job of keeping what's really going on well hidden. This book picks up directly where Black Notice left off. Scarpetta is in trouble but is stronger than ever. There are several levels of emotions as she actually starts to deal with the events of Point of Origin. (I don't want to give it away in case you haven't read some earlier books). If you haven't read any of the Scarpetta books before, I don't recommend that you start with this one because you get so much more out of it if you are aware of some of the history.
