Galilee by Clive Barker
Review by: Purple74
Don't go reading this book expecting the Clive Barker's usual storyline. Yes there is good versus evil - but gone is the horror and it's replaced with a very simple story that grips the reader to the very end. Imagine Romeo & Juliet. Now add in a little Gods vs Mortals rivalry. This isn't a slushy romance, but it is a tale of two mighty houses (The Barbarossas and the O'Gearys) who are enemies - yet love is found the prodigal son and the wife of one the O'Geary sons. This is a great tale that is initially told as history and then moves into a narrative of present events as the book itself is written and hence the ending (though satisfying) is left a little foggy. There is none of Barker's usual horror, yet still manages to keep the reader wanting for more. As a reader you'll need to find out what happens to Rachel and Gallilee and the rest of the families.
