Newjack : Guarding Sing Sing by Ted Conover
Review by: Suzy
I read an excerpt from this book in "The New Yorker" and went right out and bought it. Ted Conover, an investigative journalist, went undercover for a year to find out what really goes on in our maximum security prisons. He went through training and became a guard at Sing Sing, one of the country's most notorious prisons. His vivid writing style brings you into the prison with him, and makes you see and feel what it's really like "do time". You can read an excerpt for yourself on Amazon -- it's well worth checking out.
