Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
Review by: Aquarian

I checked out the archive, and I'm so happy that nobody else has recommended this yet! I do not like romance novels, I like Ann Rice, Stephen King, but this book is addictive. It is my favorite of all. It is about a British woman who reunites with her husband in Scotland on a vacation after the war. She visits an ancient Stone Circle and is transported back to 1743 Scotland. She is forced to marry a Scottish highlander (Jamie) to save her life, and eventually falls in love with him. This is the first book I have read where the man is the redhead. This book is packed with adventure, history, sex (not the mushy-puke-your-guts-out-romance-book-kind), violence, and humor. This book made me laugh outloud, and yes, it made me cry. I made a guy at work read it after holding a gun to his head. (he makes me tell people that to save face) He loved it and he is starting on the sequels. (that's his secret though)

If you like it which I know you will, there are 3 more books to follow it. Dragonfly in Amber, Voyager, and Drums of Autumn. There is another book coming out the end of this year with the working title of The Firey Cross. And, so far, one more after that. I am on my 8th reread of this to kill time until the next book comes out. You will not be bored!
