One True Thing by Anna Quindlen
Review by: Candi

It's extremely cliché, but this book was absolutely heartwrenching. Anna Quindlen is a superb writer who doesn't just draw you in, she grabs you and forces you to feel everything the characters are feeling. This is the story of a young woman who returns home for an obligatory visit and finds out her mother has been diagnosed with cancer. The father asks her to stay to help take care of her mother, and the daughter finds herself reliving childhood memories, discovering that she never really bothered to find out who her mother was as a person, and some family secrets that put it all into perspective. It's beautiful, inspiring, and will make you long for the comfort of your mother's arms.
