Enchantment by Orson Scott Card
Review by: HellKat

If you like romance with a little twist, history, and fairy tales, you'll love this book!

Based on a version of Sleeping Beauty, the tale of Enchantment unfolds around a young man who is transported into ninth century Russia. He is made to play the part of the prince, in this story, with an unwilling and feisty princess.

Be warned, this is not your average "happily ever after" type of deal. As the character states, "only a fool would want to live through the Russian version of any fairy tale." They must fight language barriers, Baba Yaga, time travel, and religion to overcome and live.

I enjoyed the history and religious aspects of this story. I am not Jewish, but found the symbolism and lifestyle intriguing. Not a fan of conventional romance novels, I was surprised at how much I became involved in the characters and their feelings toward each other. I recommend this to everyone I know!
