East of Eden by John Steinbeck
Review by: Joanna
I realize that this is a classic and many of you may have read it in school, but just in case you haven't I'm putting it up here because i just read it an I absolutely loved it. The story is not written linearly, so the plot is not very easy to explain. The basic story is about several people and their families and how they live and die. That makes it sound dumb, but I don't know how else to explain it. The way he writes intrigued me and made me want to keep reading. I don't like books that are too predictable, and although this one was set up in such a way that it was sometimes possible to see what was going to happen, he arrived at those points in ways that always caught me by surprise. It is a beautifully written book and I hope you will all read it at some point despite my rambling and confusing recommendation.
