Waiting: The True Confessions of a Waitress by Debra Ginsberg
Review by: Suzy
Reading Anthony Bourdain's "Kitchen Confidential" gave me a great behind the scenes look at what happens in a restaurant kitchen, or the back of the house. To learn what happens in the restaurant itself or the front of the house, you can't do better than Debra Ginsberg's breezy, witty book, "Waiting". Like Bourdain, Ginsberg has been working in restaurants for more than 20 years. She has worked in everything from luncheonettes to private clubs to upscale restaurants -- a very broad range of experience. Part memoir, partly a guide on how to behave (and not behave!) when dining out, a little bit of social commentary, and a very entertaining read.
