The Fun of It: Stories from the Talk of the Town by Lillian Ross (Editor)
Review by: Suzy

When I get my weekly issue of "The New Yorker", the first thing I do is go through it and check out all the cartoons. The next thing I do is read "The Talk of the Town", which is a lot like a blog for the city of New York. It can be about literally anything, but it's always fun to read. So you can imagine how excited I was that Lillian Ross, who has contributed to the magazine for almost 50 years, selected the best of "Talk" from the magazine's inception. Each decade, from the 1920's through the year 2000, is represented by a kaleidoscope of dazzling, witty, moving, poignant real life stories that all take place in one the world's great cities. And the writers! E.B. White, James Thurber, John McPhee, mt fave Adam Gopnik...it's a collection to be savored.
