Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult
Review by: RedMane
This is a book that takes place in Paradise, Pennsylvania...where the Amish culture flourishes. It's a book about a young Amish girl accused of murdering an infant. All the medical evidence points to her being the mother of the infant, but she can't remember giving birth or even being pregnant. There are a few twists thrown in throughout that will keep you from being able to put the book down. Also, the lawyer who decides to defend the Amish girl is not Amish...she is thrown into this culture, and she has to learn how to be accepted by the Amish and to live among them for quite some time. The author does a wonderful job at letting "outsiders" get a first-hand glimpse of what life is like for these simple, peaceful people.
