Four Blondes by Candace Bushnell
Review by: Suzy
Candace Bushnell is famous for her book "Sex and the City", which inspired the hilarious HBO series. In a reversal of how I usually feel, I enjoy the series much, much more than the book which inspired it. I found the book to be amusing in places, but overwhelmingly bitter and a real disappointment after the wit of the series.
So I was a little hesitant about picking up "Blondes". But it is a very enjoyable, funny read. Four stories about four different blonde New Yorkers, all wealthy and beautiful, of course: a model who finds a different man each summer -- the only prerequisite being that he must have a place in the Hamptons; another woman who has married into royalty but finds the price a little high; a wife who pushes her husband to finish his first novel with unexpected results; and a New Yorker who goes to London to find the perfect mate. A great beach read, fluffy and fun.
