The Tao of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff, Ernest H. Shepard
Review by: Ambrosia
The premise of this book is to explain the principles of Taoism using Winnie-the -Pooh and his friends. Taoism is one of the three great Chinese Philosophies. It emphasizes peace and harmony with nature, rather than telling you to leave the "World of Dust", as Buddism teaches, Taoism encourages you to join the dust. And who can you think of to demonstrate joining the dust better, but Winnie-the-Pooh!
The Tao of Pooh explains Taoist ideas such as The Uncarved Block (Pooh), the Bisy Backson (Rabbit), the Confusionist, Desiccated Scholar (Owl), and most importantly, how concepts that where conceived thousands of years ago still apply to modern life. And it does all that with a sense of humor (who can not laugh with Tigger bouncing into walls?!).
