Linzi - Well...my make-up bag is pretty full!! I am a dark eyed red head so i really like to play up my eyes...bronze eyeshadow around the inner corner of the eyes and brown up to the arch with sparkling almost black in the crease! Of course you have to have the top outer and inner and bottom outter and inner lids lined with a thin smear of black eyeliner. Top it all of with two coats of mascara!!! Play up the freckles by not wearing foundation...just wear powder and some bronzer~ remember the blush! Apricot works best for me! Natural lipstick should top this look off!!

redheadedJB - As if having fair skin isn't hard enough, red hair just adds to the difficulty of finding makeup that is suitable for our coloring. After reading lots of fashion mags and expert advice and trying many products in various shades and tones, I've come up with some general makeup guidelines to follow:
#1: Avoid pink or olive toned foundations. Foundation bases with pink tones make your face look more pink than it naturally is and olive tones make you look sickly---pick a neutral, biege-like foundation. A little yellow is ok, but only a little.
#2: Pick soft pinks and warm shades of blush to give yourself a healthy glow. If you like bronzer, use it lightly.
#3: Neutral is natural. Stick with neutral shades of eyeshadow to look casual yet polished. Light and mid-browns, champages, rich chocolates are best. Neutral and light pinks are also a good choice. For a more dramatic look, plums, greens, and blue shades are my top picks.
#4: Red-brown or dark brown are best for both eyeliner and mascara, though it depends on your shade of red hair. Strawberry blondes should always stick with light browns, but darker redheads can get away with black.
#5: Don't go too dark with your eyebrow color---choose a soft red-brown pencil or a light taupe powder, or otherwise you'll make your skin look paler and unnatural.
#6: Lipstick is best in nude shades or vibrant ones. Pale or dark pinks and browns are always good choices, but don't be shy to go bold with a dark red or plum. Do avoid red-orange shades, like peach.
#7: Go gold! Dusting a little gold on your eyelids or cheek bones looks incredible on redheads. I think because gold is so vibrant in the sun just as red hair is, they "mesh" well together.

Siobhain - I have very white skin, and it is translucent nearly. If I am even the smallest bit tired, I show it under my eyes. I have tried the most expensive concealers for this, but the one that has worked the best is the Ice Green concealer (not cover green) from Physician's Formula. You dot on a bit of it, and blend it with a bit of a darker concealer (not too dark my lovely red's), and it seems to just whisk those nasty circles away.

Becci - Of course, being red haired, we are the fairest of them all! So my foundation color is the 2nd lightest shade of Ivory there is. I use Mary Kay creme to powder - excellent. My pallette of colors are mostly brown and gold and some green. I usually wear a base of a shadow called crystalline and another one called spun silk, then highligted with shades called clove and truffle - all Mary Kay brand. I use the shade goldenrod when I want my eyes to look very blue - blue is opposite orange/gold on the color chart - so when you wear a color that is opposite your eye color, it makes your eyes stand out. Interesting and very true fact! So if your eyes are green, wear a pink/red tone. You'll be amazed. My blushes are called nutmeg and winter rose. My eyeliner is brown and I usually choose either brown or black/brown for my mascara - black itself is too harsh for fair, fair skin. Unless you are gothic or something. And my lipsticks go with what I wear - I have lots of brown (brownie, it's called) and I wear reds and oranges, sometimes pink and my favorite which everyone says matches my hair is called florentine gold - it's a copper/gold color. I am fortunate enough to be able to wear any color of clothing - and yes, redheads CAN wear red AND pink! So that's my story - hopes it helps!

CJ_Princess - As I've worked for Clinique before (for a total of two years), most of my make-up bag is Clinique. That being said, I use a lot of other things as well, both from the drugstore and department. I've found that in addition to being really great on sensitive skin (it's fragrance free as well as being non-comenoenic) it's one of the only brands that carries foundation light enough to go on my fair skin. The only thing that I've found lighter is Prescriptives, and that's only because they custom blend their own foundations. They only do this at the department store in larger cities, but if you have really really fair skin it's really the only way to go. Be careful with the foundation, though, because when I tried it it balled up on my skin and looked really trashy. My whole make-up routine generally tends to take about 5-6 minutes a day, but it can vary up to a half an hour if I'm going somewhere really special.
Cleansing: To be perfectly honest, I don't do much in the way of care of my skin, cleansing-wise. I use Clinique's 7-day scrub in the shower every morning. At night, I use their Rinse Off Foaming Cleanser, then a mixture of clarifying lotions number 2 and 3. Then I use their Total Turnaround. This is honestly the best product that I've ever used on my skin. It instantly clears away dry, dead skin cells, then overnight it refreshes and rejuvenates to make you look wide-awake. If you don't buy anything else at the department store, buy this product and your foundation.
All this being said, most nights I just use the total turnaround without even taking off my make-up (most of it wears off anyway) and the scrub only when I remember or have very visibly flaking skin cells.
MakeUp: This is my passion. I love to do make-up, play around with colors, find new looks and different things to do. The colors and products I've listed are my current favorites, but I'll also include a list of things that I've used in the past and will probably use in the future (I tend to go in phases with my make up usage).
Foundation: I have to go Clinique on this one, even though I have used Lancome in the winter. During the summer, I just use their Superpowder Double Matte Face powder in Matte Beige, although in the winter I'll use Matte Bisque. I also use a little bronzing powder, which surprisingly I found in the drugstore by the name of Rammell, and it's the only bronzing powder that I've ever found (including Clinique's) that doesn't make me orange. If you're into self tanner, use Clarins Instant Bronzing Gel. It has the benefits of not making you orange, plus it absorbs quickly into your skin so if you do it on the fly its ok, not a four hour process.
Other Products Used: Clinique: Superbalanced Makeup in Alabaster, Gentle Light Foundation in Bare Light, Almost Makeup in Light, City Stick in Ivory Twist (only as a concealer), Superfit Make-up in Creamwhip, Stay Matte Powder in Stay Buff, Gentle Light Powder in Glow 2 (both pressed and loose), Concealing Stick, Acne Solutions Concealer in Shade 1 Lancôme: Photogenic in Ivoire 2.
Cheeks: I used to be afraid of blush. With such a fair complexion, you have to be really careful to not get a really dark or red or orange color, otherwise you end up looking like a painted lady. I‚ve really only ever used two colors. The first one is a nice pinkish color that looks really natural, called Mocha Pink by Clinique. The second one is sort of a bronze-ish red that looks really dark in the case but goes on really sheerly, called Silk Bronze by Clinique.
Eyes: Usually I play up the focus on my eyes, since I have pretty small lips. I spend the majority of time on them. When I do a powder base, I always pull the powder over my eyes as well, just to set a base for them. On a normal day, I will just then use a brown powder in the crease of my eyelids (usually Stormy by Clinique) and a bronze powder over the rest of my lids (Bronze by Rammell) in that order. I do it like that because the bronze adds a little bit of interest to the brown, while creating a softer look in general. I then use a dark, almost black eyeliner (Black Brown by Clinique) and black mascara, generally two different kinds (Lash Curling Mascara by Clinique and the one by Estee Lauder). I find that if you build two different kinds of mascara, you get better lengthening than if you just use one kind, and especially if you use two different brands. On my eyebrows I use what is technically eyeliner by Clinique (Roast Coffee) but it's a reddish-brown and works perfectly with my hair color. Although I am fortunate enough to have visible eyebrows as a redhead, I think that without some sort of definition I still look boring.
Other Products Used: (I'm not going to list all of them, just some of my favorites right now. There are way too many that I have to list all of them)
Eye shadows: Clinique: Nude Sparkle, Stormy, Like Mink, Rose Wine, Violet Ice, Sea Shore, Grey on Grey, Spring Wedding Lancôme: (their color focus is the best eye shadow formula I've seen) Optic, Spontaneous, Spectra, Drama, Strobe, Montage
Eyeliners: Clinique: Black Brown, Roast Coffee (as an eyebrow pencil), Slate, Violet (all in the quickliner for eyes formula)
Mascara: The only thing I'm going to say here is stay away from the Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara, because although it seems ok to begin with within a couple of weeks it starts to clump really badly and it‚s hard to work with. I also don't like the Lancôme mascaras because they tend to look too heavy, although a lot of people swear by it so I think it‚s a matter of personal preference.
Lips: I tend toward a really neutral lip, although one of my favorite lip colors is a really bold red color (Clinique‚s Summer Rose with the tawny tulip lip liner). I'm using the roll-up lip glosses that I usually buy at Target (Lip d'Votion by Bonne Bell in Simply Strawberry or Strawberry Sweetie or Vanilla Bean). The Simply Strawberry looks really bright in the tube, but it goes on really naturally. I generally wear that every day, but if I want a more finished neutral look I'll wear Clinique's Creamy Nude lipstick.
Other Colors used: Clinique: Superbalm, Glow Bronze, Cupcake, Fizzy, Blushing Nude (these are summer colors; I tend to go darker in the winter).
If you want more color suggestions or anything, drop me an e-mail and I'll see if I can help.
You can visit the following websites to purchase any of the products that I suggested, or they're

Terrip721 - I'm 43 years young. No one can guess my age, so I guess that's a compliment to my make up regimen. They're usually shocked when I tell them. I always use a glycerin based face soap. Any will do. I currently am using Nutregina. I use Oil of Olay on a daily basis. If I wear make up, it's "Just for Readheads" (JFR) products that I highly recommend. You can check them out at www.justforredheads.com.
I use Royal Bisque Flawless foundation, which I apply with a sponge and a little water. I love it because it blends my freckles. I use their Whisper Tan Sheer Satin Blush, their Ginger Red Mascara which is absolutely amazing. A redhead with black eyelashes looks way too hard. And I use several of their strawberry blonde collection of lipsticks. My current favorite is "Hush" but that's just this week. I love them all. I don't uses eyeshadows. I use a very light brown/auburn eyeliner pencil below my lower lashes and smudge it very lighly. I remove my makeup by smearing Albolen all over my face. It's a great moisturizer and makeup remover in one. It's great for older dry skin.

Luckoftheirish30 - I wear little and sometimes zero makeup. I have a small makeup bag, however, and will not EVER forget my chapstick. I love glossy lips!
Foundation for those that don't like heavy-thick makeup is CLINIQUE SUPERFIT MAKEUP- (for my fairness, I like #5-Neutral). This is by far, the best coverage yet. It covers flaws, small wrinkles and some blotchies. It has a yellowish-base tone, but, evens out and looks great outside too!
For color on my cheeks, I use a light sweep of #20-GOLDEN GLOW/CLINIQUE sheer powder blusher & then add OIL of OLAY's WILD ROSE #14: I rarely use any eyeshadows, but, I'll lightly brush GOLD DUST #03 CLINIQUE -glow crazy powder highlighter- for a little color. LIPSTICKS: I'm still iffy on. I haven't found the perfect shade, so, I use a mixture (CLINIQUE-TENDERHEART & SOFT BLOOM) and then top it with gloss of ANY kind. I prefer carmex chapstick- to keep my lips soft.
Black/Brown mascara, light- and, ALWAYS Cliniques' Turn-Around Creme before bed! This is a must.
NOTE: if you find your skin a little rough, or blotchy, lightly wash your face with COLD MILK! This is my Grandma's trick (Ireland)- and she's still so very beautiful!
NOTE: "pinching" your cheeks, if you have forgot your blush, will add a nice color to your cheeks! :) Not too hard, it'll bruise! giggle.
Hair Care- Even though I have no dandruff, using my husband's Head & Shoulders once a week helps with the dead dry ends-- I switch shampoos every other day, but ALWAYS use HAIR CONDITIONER by Paul Mitchell, after lightly drying my hair. This stuff is great for dry hair and smells great!

Emkay - Skin is like an onion, it has many layers, all translucent with a little color. When we blush, the blood comes to the surface. The best makeup is the kind that lets light into the skin while enhancing color or covering imperfection. It can be expensive though.
Cleaning
In order to get a smooth application, you have to have smooth skin. I'm 18, so I have acne. I found out that if I exfoliate, it gets much better. Instead of using pummice or an expensive scrub, try adding sugar to honey until it has a grainy texture. Put your hair back or cover it with a towel. It works best if you just had a hot shower. Scrub your face with the mixture; it will feel rough. To get it off, wash with hot water, under the shower works best. Your acne will get worse for a couple days, as the developing acne will come to the surface. But exfoliating prevents pores from getting clogged, and in about four days, your skin will be clearer than it was before. Do this no more than twice a week, as it may leave skin raw. Afterward and between scrubs, wash with an oil free cleanser, like Cetaphil. It is found in almost any drugstore. It is handy because it does not require water, it gets rid of oil and leaves skin soft. I find antibacterial soaps don't work well for me.
Apple Oatmeal Mask
To get rid of oil try putting a mixture of peeled apple and oatmeal in a blender. Don't mix more than you'll use. Blend to a paste and rub on your face, espically the oily parts. Wipe off after a bit and wash with Cetaphil.
Makeup
I use Cover Girl Fresh Look foundation in Ivory. I always wash first and put on a _very_ small amount of lotion on my face. On my lips I use a little beeswax lip balm, then blot. If I want to use mascara, I use a light brown one. Revlon now makes an eyeshadow set called Illuminance. I find the pink one is most useful. I use only a little on the outsides of my eyelids. It is a little greasy, but is pretty and subtle and stays for a long time.

carolinaderm - I had the most problems finding good make-up as a teenager. Now, it's a bit better, but it's still hard to find good colors in general stores.
For any of you that have had a problem with moderate acne (even as an adult), it's important to get a good face wash and astringent. I have tried many things, even succumbing to purchasing Proactiv from an infomercial! Since, redheads usually have sensitive skin, gentle products work well. In the States, I used Freeman and Swiss Ives products. They are relatively cheap and are of good quality. Here in France, the BEST thing I have come across is Garnier Pure products. I use their facewash and astringent, which not only rids excess oil and dirt but also closes your pores. I'm not sure whether this product is available in the States, but it is worth mentioning in case any of you can find it someplace. On another note, it's also nice to use Oil of Olay on your face, regularly or from time to time, to smoothen your face and 'perhaps' decrease signs of aging. Or, so they say! :)
For mascara, I always try to find plain brown. It is rare to come across this, so I usually just take black-brown. Because that is dark enough, I lightly put on one coat to make my eyes subtly stand out. Rimmel is a good brand that is at a good price. L'oreal is the best, but you are going to pay 7 dollars for one tube. Rimmel will cost around 3 dollars and you can usually find it at most Wal-Marts.
I'm not much of an eye shadow person and on the occasion that I do wear it, I stick to the browns and neutrals. However, I love color and in the spring and summer, I dive into apricots and even cool pinks and very light yellows. Stay away from reds, purples, dark charcoals, and bright pinks. Usually orangy based colors will look the best!
For lips, Bonne Bell lip glosses are superb!! They provide a hint of color, great scents, and long-lasting softness. It isn't too greasy, so it won't feel like your lips are drowning in Vaseline! For lips, I use L'oreal #843 Toasted Almond in the Fall and Winter and in the spring and summer, I use L'oreal #415 Exotic Apricot. Unfortunately with lip colors, they change them often, but it is easy to find something that is similiar to your favorite. With lip sticks, it is 'ok' to spend the extra buck because cheap lipsticks will look cheap on your lips, whereas good quality ones will beautify them.
Take time when you put on your make-up. One good thing with redheads is that we don't have to wear a lot of make-up to be beautiful. We are naturally that way! :)

RedAnnie - Being a 14 year old girl I am morel likley to be giving the younger girls tips but..who knows? Well this is what I wear:
Foundation: None, isint it nice to be young? Sometimes I wear a little brozer so I dont look so pale. But mainly I go o'natural.
Eyes: I wear black mascara at night and brown during the day. I wear Brown eye liner on my lower lid because it makes my eyes look bigger. I like to change things up with eye shadow. Most of the time my eyeshadow matches what I am wearing. I like shimmer and sparkles Not cheap big sparkles But the ones in eyeshadow. I like skin market eyeshadow but it has a tendency to crease.
For Blush: I wear Peach from bath and body works. And Strawberry from sephora.
Lips: Chapstick and lipgloss. Heathly lips look better then anything else.
I hope I helped SOMEBODY. lov ya all.

RainEdayWomn - Well being a licensed cosmetologist for the past 10 years I have had the opportunity to try many different products. Below is what I currently use and suggest.
SKIN CARE:
(#1 Choice) Dermalogica skin care line is by far the best I have found. This is comming from many years of experience in skincare and cosmetics. I find their products are great for those with sensitive skin and special needs. Works well for problem complextions yet gentle enough for the most sensitive skin.
(#2 Choice) This is a new product I recently found. If Dermalogica is out of ones price range or unable to find in your area. I suggest trying Intaglio it is the closest I have found in quality and most Salons should be able to get it for you.
MAKEUP:
(Foundation)
I only use WET/DRY Power Foundations the coverage is incredable and it feels great on the skin. I am a huge fan of Aveda Cosmetics ((WET DRY FOUNDATION)) but I find that it can be alittle too yellow. I am currently using BIBO wet/dry in neutral and light. The light gives a nice glow to the skin and great is areas you wish to highlight. (brow bone, cheek bones, under the eye, chin, hairline) and the netral as an all over to really smooth the look of the skin. I am curious to try the Amphigory in lavender. I cant comment on the quality as of yet (waiting on my order) but I have use lavender foundation base in the past and you cant beat the results on fair skin. The lavender neutralizes the ruddy yellow undertones that many fair skin redheads have and give a nice glow to the skin.
COLORS:
Eyes- I am currently using Matrix eyeshadows but they recently discontinued their makeup and skincare lines. My next suggestion is Aveda the colors are so rich and gentle on the skin. I love using dark neutral browns and blending then to get the desired effect.
Masquara: Lorel, La grand Curl in Black/Brown. I love this stuff doesnt flake and really curls the lashes.
Lips: Again Aveda is my favorite in lip color.
(#1)Aveda- uses no animal products in making their cosmetics. Thus, you dont get that yuckie rancid taste that many lipsticks have. Also the Anise used in their formulation aids in digestion and taste nice on the lips. Favorite colors are in the copper and brown shades.
(#2)I love Bonnie Bell Lip Lites in the Coffee Shades. Gives nice gloss and touch of color to the lips. I come back and line the lip with a copper lip pencil to deepen the shade and give a more dramatic look to the lips.
CHEEKS:
Again Aveda blush is my favorite. Nude or Neutral for the cheekbone and a touch of Apricot (discontinued) on the apple of the cheek. You wouldn't believe what a touch of apricot on the apple of you cheek will do. Makes the whole face look brighter. A nice healthy glow.
The biggest thing is being sure you have a good skin care regimine. Did you know that sleeping with makeup on ages your skin 10 days!! Also when putting on makeup less is more. The worse thing on already fair skin is a cakie looking mess. Highlight your strong points. Stick with colors that compliment your skin tone but dont be afraid to try new things. It is only makeup...it does wash off :o))

colleeniee - I have coppery auburn hair that looks golden in the sunlight, and i have a billion freckles (believe me, we've counted...) all over my face. But I'm not too big on makeup. I usually wear a cream foundation (by Mary Kay) to match my pale and fair skin tone, and just some black mascara (also by Mary Kay). If I do wear anything else, its a pinkish lip gloss, and some bronze eye shadow in the crease of my eye lids (it looks better than it sounds). I hardly wear eye liner, but when I do (only when I perform) I just use a bit of dark brown (by mary kay...who knew?) on the outter half of my lower eye, and all across the upper lid....
And I really don't know what else to tell you, so there you go!

Mitzi - Actually I thought to use my "Tip" for a discussion of natural curly hair as I have noticed that many redheads are also curly heads! No matter how well my makeup looks, if my hair is wrong...well, let's just say that it's a 'bad day'. I thought that with age that I might outgrow this phenomenon but apparently not!
Most curly hair is considered to be of fine texture. However, I have moderately coarse hair with medium curl that will 'take-on' gallons of water in our famous southern humidity leaving me with a mass of frizz. After years of coping, I can not over-stress the importance of product selection. Having read every word of the naturalcurly.com website, I would highly recommend it, but have also developed my own techniques.
I use a shampoo designed to remove deposits of hair product and the minerals from our 'hard' water, BioSilk Shampoo Out is a good one (I buy mine on eBay). Rich conditioners are also a must since putting moisture into the hair and then sealing it in, with the proper products, actually has given me more frizz protection then any of the numerous gels that I've ever tried. Two conditioners that I really love are BioSilk Pre-Plus and Sealer Plus--use them together. I also have found a generic of
Matrix Biolage at the local Sally's store that is wonderful. An important hint is to never totally rinse out conditioner. As a final finish on my wet hair, I use BioSilk Silk Therapy. However a generic version of Paul Mitchell's The Cream, also from Sally's, is great as it contains a small amount of gel in a finishing cream and does not leave a hard or wet look.
The most important part (beyond getting that all important 'good' haircut) is to use a diffuser on your hairdryer and to NOT completely dry the hair. Curly hair must be left partially wet and be allowed to air dry without touching it. The more you touch or arrange your hair before and after it is dry, the more frizz you produce. After hair is dried you can give your curls a slight squeeze to release them a bit and even add a small spray of "Happy Hair" (in an aerosol, available at Sally's).
My goal is to keep my hair controlled but soft and also shiny without looking wet. I hope that you enjoy these tips!

Cordelia - I have fiery red hair with the palest skin possible for a human being to have. I love my skin tone and my hair color, but it can be tricky to find the right makeup. I absolutely swear by Just for Redheads beauty products. Never was there a more loyal customer than I.
On an ordinary day I'll just wear the ginger red mascara, mink or bronze eyeshadow, and gingerred brush a brow. Two minutes. If I want to look a little nicer, I'll wear the ivory foundation (super pale, since I have the fairest skin ever!) with the whisper apricot blush and pressed powder. I have about half of the JFR lipsticks, so I just mix and match. For formal occasions I'll wear the matte Pecan or the micro spice, and for summer I'm really liking micro cashmere or naked bronze lipshine. They're all so great, and I haven't come across a JFR lipstick that didn't look good on me. I don't even bother with drugstore makeup anymore. I used to buy makeup at walmart, but without fail I would end up throwing it away after wearing it the first time. Not good. Just For Redheads has a website, which is www.JustForRedheads.com, and you can also request a mail-order catalogue.
The only exception to my JFR fanaticism that I've made recently was when I took Kestrel's advice and got the lavender loose powder from amphigory.com. So nice. The effect is otherworldly, and it's inexpensive too. Amphigory.com has the neatest products that're worth checking out, as well as some products that are better to just look at. You'll see what I mean if you go there.
Since sunscreen is imperative for me, I'm constantly on the lookout for the perfect sunscreen which is makeup compatible, won't turn me paperwhite, and doesn't look greasy. For lack of anything better, I use Neutrogena SPF 45 with the parsol, which anyone can get at their local drugstore or walmart. I works, and it's oil-free so it doesn't aggravate my face, but it does look greasy and I can't put makeup on over it. So lots of times I wimp out and use coppertone SPF 30 gel, which is al s o available at most drugstores. It looks and feels better, but not as much protection. If anyone has any better ideas, please let me know!
