MandyKGY - I've received many compliments about my makeup from my picture. I really don't use a lot of make-up, because I think it is really important to let the freckles show. :) Not only that, but so many of us redheads have such beautiful coloring, and why hide it under layers of makeup?
I use Lancome's pressed powder compact in Matte Rose Clair II. I only dust it on my face lightly to get rid of any shine. I also found a wonderful new product by Neutrogena, which is a mattifier, which takes away the shine all day long... even on really hot sweaty days.
I use Matrix Colors eyesilks eyeshadow, which I was given as a gift from my Aunt who manages a large beauty salon. I use a color that looks like a white powder, just to add a little accent to my eyes, to make the shade a little lighter. For evening wear, I will wear eyeshadow a shade darker than my pressed powder.
I wear Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof mascara in black. I have read that redheads shouldn't wear black mascara, but to go with browns. With my blue eyes, I rather like the classic look of black, and only apply to my upper lashes, which is sort of reminiscent of classic glamour. I also have found this particular mascara stays on all day, stays fresh, and doesn't smudge or leave those nasty black flakes throughout the day.
I have also read that the best way to find a perfect shade of lipstick for redheads is to use a shade darker than your hair color. For me, I've choosen Lancome's Rouge Absolu in Matte Lustre Bronze.
Lancome products are sold at nicer department stores, as well as purchased online at www.lancome.com, Maybelline mascara can be purchased at any drug store or Wal-Mart as well as Neutrogeana products, and as stated before, the eyeshadow was a gift, but I've found that every makeup has some shades similar to those that I have described.
