RainEdayWomn - Well being a licensed cosmetologist for the past 10 years I have had the opportunity to try many different products. Below is what I currently use and suggest.
SKIN CARE:
(#1 Choice) Dermalogica skin care line is by far the best I have found. This is comming from many years of experience in skincare and cosmetics. I find their products are great for those with sensitive skin and special needs. Works well for problem complextions yet gentle enough for the most sensitive skin.
(#2 Choice) This is a new product I recently found. If Dermalogica is out of ones price range or unable to find in your area. I suggest trying Intaglio it is the closest I have found in quality and most Salons should be able to get it for you.
MAKEUP:
(Foundation)
I only use WET/DRY Power Foundations the coverage is incredable and it feels great on the skin. I am a huge fan of Aveda Cosmetics ((WET DRY FOUNDATION)) but I find that it can be alittle too yellow. I am currently using BIBO wet/dry in neutral and light. The light gives a nice glow to the skin and great is areas you wish to highlight. (brow bone, cheek bones, under the eye, chin, hairline) and the netral as an all over to really smooth the look of the skin. I am curious to try the Amphigory in lavender. I cant comment on the quality as of yet (waiting on my order) but I have use lavender foundation base in the past and you cant beat the results on fair skin. The lavender neutralizes the ruddy yellow undertones that many fair skin redheads have and give a nice glow to the skin.
COLORS:
Eyes- I am currently using Matrix eyeshadows but they recently discontinued their makeup and skincare lines. My next suggestion is Aveda the colors are so rich and gentle on the skin. I love using dark neutral browns and blending then to get the desired effect.
Masquara: Lorel, La grand Curl in Black/Brown. I love this stuff doesnt flake and really curls the lashes.
Lips: Again Aveda is my favorite in lip color.
(#1)Aveda- uses no animal products in making their cosmetics. Thus, you dont get that yuckie rancid taste that many lipsticks have. Also the Anise used in their formulation aids in digestion and taste nice on the lips. Favorite colors are in the copper and brown shades.
(#2)I love Bonnie Bell Lip Lites in the Coffee Shades. Gives nice gloss and touch of color to the lips. I come back and line the lip with a copper lip pencil to deepen the shade and give a more dramatic look to the lips.
CHEEKS:
Again Aveda blush is my favorite. Nude or Neutral for the cheekbone and a touch of Apricot (discontinued) on the apple of the cheek. You wouldn't believe what a touch of apricot on the apple of you cheek will do. Makes the whole face look brighter. A nice healthy glow.
The biggest thing is being sure you have a good skin care regimine. Did you know that sleeping with makeup on ages your skin 10 days!! Also when putting on makeup less is more. The worse thing on already fair skin is a cakie looking mess. Highlight your strong points. Stick with colors that compliment your skin tone but dont be afraid to try new things. It is only makeup...it does wash off :o))
